This question may be related to a resolved thread.

My issue hasn’t been resolved. Here is my break down.
Running on a test server (Windows).
2.1.1 Install trying to test 2.1.3
    - Backup config.php, database.php, Third Party folder in expressionengine folder, solspace theme folder and third party theme folder.
    - Delete System, Theme and index.php on root.
    - Copy new System, Theme and index.php.
    - Replace config, database and third party backups.
    - Run installer.
    - Delete installer folder once completed.
    - Go to the control panel and nothing is working as far as navigation goes not sure of anything else.

    Current setup:
EE 2.1.1, Pixel & Tonic Matrix (2.0.11) and Wygwam (2.1.4), Solspace Freeform (3.0.3)

Make sure you have uploaded a complete set of files, including theme files. Are you removing index.php from your URLs using mod_rewrite? Try without it, if so. You might also want to disable extensions globally for testing.

If you read my post you would have seen that I am uploading a brand new set of files. The only ones I don’t are my config, database, and third party folders.

I don’t use a mod_rewrite as many posts on this forum are suggesting that it isn’t needed and that it’s more harmful to your SEO. I don’t even have an .htaccess file on the root of the test server.

I’ve managed to get to the Clear Cache tool and SQL manage pages luckily by having a link on my main navigation bar to the Pages module.

Are there flags or things you would like me to check?

Can you confirm that /themes/javascript exists?

Can you double check all your file and folder permissions.

What browser are you using? Are you getting a JavaScript error?

    McCoy IT,

What folders are inside themes/cp_themes/ ?

If you view the source of your CP. Does the following similar line exist around line 29 or so?

    <script type='text/javascript' src='http://testserver/themes/javascript/compressed/jquery/jquery.js?v=1292847786'></script>

Line 29 in the CP is:

    charset="utf-8" type="text/javascript" src="index.php?S=dc06d7d19d650ea9fe23351abfce29ddcf1b2d30&D=cp&C=javascript&M=load&file=css&theme=default&v=1295029652"

    themes/cp_themes/
    - corporate
      - css
      - images
      - fancybox
    - default
      - _shared
      - menu

    McCoy IT,

Where did the _assets and fancybox folders come from?

You may be better off deleting the cp_themes folder and replacing with the same folder from your recent version download

I am replacing all of the folders with the compiled zip file downloaded from expressionengine’s site. I will go and download another copy from the site and try this process over again.

The only files I don’t delete are the config.php, database.php and my Third Party plugins and associated theme folder.

I’ll report back with my findings.

Well after a much needed holiday I think I had a similar issue that a few people had where it was either PHPMyAdmin or the Server failing at creating a proper SQL dump. When I brought it back in-house on the test server, I used an old backup from October 2010 to update the exp_sites table. I double checked my permissions on my computer as well.

Installed Freeform 3.0.6 before updating to 2.1.3.
Installed Pixel&Tonic; Fieldtypes, Matrix and Wygwam after 2.1.3 install. Looks like everything is working now.

Next step to update the live server with 2.1.3 hoping for the best!

Forgot to mention I installed WAMP on my local instead of a RDP session with a virtual test server that had XAMPP installed. 😊

So I take it there’s been progress. I use WAMP on my Windows machine, but it’s been a while - switched over to Macs almost exclusively. 😊 We’ll keep this open until you’ve had a chance to upgrade on the live server.
