So I’ve taken on a new EE project. I’ve just recently learned the ropes with this CMS and I feel comfortable using it for clients. It’s that straight-forward.

A basic rundown of the site:

Client wants to start selling auto parts online so he needs an eCommerce solution. But he also has a few static pages as well as the need for a photo gallery.

From everything I’ve been reading it doesn’t seem that there’s a viable solution for eCommerce in EE 2 just yet and that’s a little disappointing but you all know the woes of this already. So I was considering using EE 1 with Cart Throb. But I’ve also heard that a lot of people are using Magento for the eCommerce side of their sites until EE 2 has a viable solution. Should I consider this?

This project has a relatively small budget in that it is going to be about 1 months worth of work and other than the cost of the EE License and the $100 I originally quoted for Cart Throb I’m set to make $3,000.

I’m really looking to minimize the amount of time that I have to spend on the eCommerce side of things and I’d prefer to focus on the rest of the site. So any solutions as to how I can do that, please let me know.

I’m really tired so I’m not sure if a lot of what I said makes a ton of sense. So please ask for clarification if you need it.

Here is another e-com solution that is relatively new (for EE2) - http://www.brilliantretail.com/.
