    Hi all,

I use MSM and have a members group and editors group setup with access to the CP/weblogs however no matter what username and password I use to access the CP I keep getting: “You are not authorized to perform this action” I can only access my CP with my superadmin password and nothing else?

I was able to login before (a few days ago) using a member username and password but I had to reset my password a few times in order to login. I have not done anything to my server nor have I touched of the settings.

I have tripple checked everything and I just don’t understand why? I did a search on the forum and found that many people had the same problem but I tried everything they did but nothing.

I have not installed any dodge plugins or anything, I even tried login in using Safari and not Firefox but nothing.

    - Version: EE 1.6.9
    - Control Panel Session Type and User Session Type: Cookies and session id (tried cookies only and session only but nothnig)
    - Require IP Address and User Agent for Login? Set to yes, also tried no but nothing
    - Blacklist/Whitelist: Clean
    - Cleaned Firefox cache and history.

    I hope someone can help.

    Thanks!

    Regards,
    Tony

    Hi Tony,

If the control panel the member group tries to login with is not on the same domain that they are meant to have access to then they will get this message. For example, if your CP is at http://examplea.com/system and the member group is supposed to only be able to access the CP/weblogs for http://exampleb.com then this will not work unless you set up Masked CP Access for http://exampleb.com.

    Cheers

    Greg

    Hi Greg,

As always thank you very much for the quick reply!
After looking into your answer I saw that the members where not tied to the main MSM site and therefore gave me the error.

I will look into getting masked CP access working for my other sites so they can login.

    Thanks again 😊

Sounds good. I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now, but don’t hesitate to post again if needed.
