When I try to upload a file using either MacJournal or Blogo I get a file upload error.  The directories are valid.  (This has been the case since EE 210, since upgrading to EE 213 I now see the errors below too: (I verified this error on both a staging upgrade and a new blank EE 213 installation)

Seeing the following PHP error when I try to open the CP for the metaweblog at the top:

In Blogo - Invalid MIME type when I try to upload a file. 

In MacJournal - it fails when there is a image or file in the blog post, but otherwise posts successfully.  MacJournal fails on edits though similar the link you posted - once you try to edit it says no entries found.

I used MarsEdit a while ago, but haven’t used it since and might try it again.

I’m seriously looking at Scribefire as well… would love to know if anyone has worked with them to post entries.

I just want one one application that will allow me create and edit a blog post on our EE setup, especially when that blog post has an image or other attachment.  Nice to have: Assign the category.

marsedit will be your best bet.  With our next update these issues should be resolved.

Just downloaded it.  I noticed in the configuration screen it lists PMachine.  Have any changes been made to the configs we need to be aware of?  Still movable type + metaweblog?

Can we use the PMachine setting on MarsEdit?

Yes the PMachine setting should still work (without categories) without any changes required.

For version 2.1.3 you can use metaweblogapi

MarsEdit Specific settings:
System Name: Other
System APi: MetaWeblog API
