    I few questions if I may:

    1. Is there a way to change a comment status from open to closed on the front end, or is the cp the only way?

    2. Can comments have a custom status, in the way entries can?

    Ultimately I’m looking for a way that the author of an entry can mark a comment as being “featured” and hence distinguishable from other comments. Any ideas?

    Many thanks
    Lee

    What version and build of EE are you using? There has been significant Comment Module changes in recent versions

    Not at the moment no. You are welcome to make a feature request though.

    I tried to get this to work, but failed. The docs don’t seem to go far enough such that if I follow them I end up being able to edit comments. Might be a good tutorial waiting to be written for the EE site blog.

    If all you want to do is change the status of certain comments a custom SQL query might be your best approach, actually.

    Hi,

    I notice comments are now in EE2 immediately shown on the front end. Can’t they be entered in closed status, end then be openend in the CP?

    Have you turned on Comment Moderation in your Channel Preferences?

    ok, thx. Now the problem of the extra is solved 😊!

    Can I use custom fields in the comment form? This is my current code:

    {exp:comment:form channel="guestbook" name="guestbookform" id="guestbookform" entry_id="53"}
    Name
    <input type="text" name="post_name" size="30" /></p>
    Period
    <input type="text" name="post_period" size="30" /></p>
    Comments
    <textarea name="comment" cols="30" rows="5"></textarea>
    <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Send" />
    {/exp:comment:form}

    Or will I need a SAEF to do this?

    There are no custom comment fields, I am afraid. This would have to be a custom solution.
