How Do I Remove Required Member Registration Fields?

I need to create a custom member registration form for a client’s site.

They do not require some of the default member registration fields - username, for example.

I can’t find where to change these default fields. I still get an error saying ‘You must submit a username’ even when the field does not exist on my registration form!

Where do I change what fields are required for a member to sign-up?
(i.e. NOT the Custom Member Fields).

    Urgent help appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Mark.

Hi, Mark - welcome to the forums!

Username is required by EE - it is not possible to change that.

If you’re not showing the username field, you might set it to hidden and use some JS to automatically populate it based off another field.

A feature request to change the username’s requirement would be a good idea if you’d like to see this possibly appear in a future version.

Thanks Lisa. That might work for me.
