Not sure if this is a bug or just an annoying part of how this works. If i create a custom publish layout removing some fields etc.  Then if I update one of the hidden fields it reappears in all channels again. Then i need to go through all the channels and resave layouts with it removed.  This is a real pain.  Should it not keep the layout regardless of what i do to the fieldtype or even instruction text for that field?

Why not just free fields from fieldgroups alltogether like BK’s gypsy used to do.

    Hi Phil,

I’m not certain whether that behaviour is desired. I’ll ask the rest of the team and we’ll respond as soon as we can.

    Cheers

    Hello Phil, EllisLab,

Just would like to add that we experience this too, and would love to see this fixed in a future build.

With multiple channels, this can become very unwieldy when the desire is just to make a simple change to a custom field that only shows up in one channel—and then after the change, it once again shows up everywhere.

Glad to hear it’s been submitted on a bug report.

Hi, Slankman. That bug has been fixed for the next release. Unfortunately we don’t have a release date for the next update. Thanks in advance for your patience.

Phil, since this is listed as fixed in the next release, I’m going to close this thread.

Don’t hesitate to post again as needed.
