I need to increase the character limit on the title field. 

Can anyone tell me how to do this on 2x?

I think I’ve got it - edited the DB and content_publish.php line 1371—seems to be working.

Could you explain in a little more detail how you solved this problem?

Yeah, of course—I was actually revisiting this last night after upgrading to 2.1.3 and having to carry over the hack.  I had trouble finding this file myself.

The file to hack is at
system/expressionengine/controllers/cp/content_publish.php

The line number is currently 2282

'field_maxl'            => 100

I changed mine to 200

When we hack EE, we make a hacks file and keep it in the system folder so that hacks can be carried over with upgrades.

You also need to go into phpMyAdmin and change the type of the title field.  I may have some detail a little off, but I think you
- find exp_channel_titles
- hit the Structure tab
- hit the change icon on the title field
- change “Length/Values” to 200

The DB change doesn’t need to be carried over with upgrades, just the hack in content_publish.php

I used the same addon as well… and its working perfectly for me.
