I’m trying to figure out the best way to build this site in EE and wondered if anyone has any suggestions on how I could go about structuring it.

I’ve been looking into structure but I haven’t used it before so I’m not sure how well suited it is to something like this.

    Here is a rough sitemap.

    - Communities
          + City
              = Community
                    - Floor Plans
                          + Floor Plan 1
                              = Title
                              = Summary
                              = Image
                          + Floor Plan 2
                              = Title
                              = Summary
                              = Image
                    - Community description
                    - Site plan
                    - Features
                    - Neighbourhood
                    - Price list
    - Register
    - Tours
    - Customer Services
          + Landing Page
          + Calculator
          + Moving Tips
    - About
          + Landing Page
          + Philosophy
          + Careers
    - News

There will probably be about a dozen cities and each will have a handful of communities within it.

I’m a bit confused on having communities both above and below cities.  Are cities being organized into a higher-level grouping?

Communities is just the name of the nav item, if you clicked it it would take you to a list of all communities in all cities.

So you would see a list with Communities 1-4 from the example below. If you went to Toronto you would see 1 & 2.

If you went to Community 1 you would see a landing page with a summary and a subnav with all its subpages.

    * Communities
          + Toronto
              - Community 1
              - Community 2
          + Guelph
              - Community 3
              - Community 4

I’d look into Communities as a channel with Floor plans as a matrix field.  Cities as categories.

Or if more content is needed at the city level run those as a channel and use relationships to connect a community to a city.

Tough to make a really good call without seeing wireframes/design comps to really see the amount of content at each level.

From what I can see Structure is definitely suited to a project like this, just read through the documentation and make sure you get a solid understanding before building the site. Remember that Structure and normal Channel Entries can work together very well.
