Is there a way to conduct a simple search that will include each entry’s unique ID? The reason I ask is because I need to use the entry IDs as product codes for each product, and many of the searches are done by the product code.
If that is not possible, would there at least be a way to automatically assign each new channel entry’s ID to a new custom channel field and have that custom field be searchable?

Are you on EE1 or EE2?
Did you try using the search:field_name= param on the entries tag? I am not sure if the entry_id is searchable.
On EE1 you could try using Solspace’s Preparse http://www.solspace.com/software/detail/preparse/. On EE2 you can write an extension to get the same results as Preparse.
