I have a client who wants to be able to moderate some users forum posts. Their posts wouldn’t show up until a forum admin/moderator approves them.

Unfortunately this is not an option at this point. As a workaround, perhaps you could allow them to post to some forums that are usually hidden from public view, and then have an admin move the post to the final sub forum? But I’m really only brainstorming here.

Thanks for the suggestion. Don’t think that’ll work for this client, though.
Any idea if and when it will be an option?

Unfortunately not. You’re welcome to make a Feature Request, of course. If pre-moderation is vital to you using the comment module might be your best (EE-related) option.
