I require manual activation of user accounts on my site, because I have been getting a lot of spam registrations lately.

I’ve noticed that there are a few member accounts in Pending status that have “Last Visit” dates when I go into Admin -> Members and Groups -> View Members.

    How is this possible?

They very likely came back again after initially trying to register. If you look at the screen shot, you’ll see a description as to what that cookie is used for.

    Does that help?

Thanks Sue! Yes it does. I was concerned that it might have been based on a “last successful log in” field in the database, rather than a cookie. That would have meant they were somehow able to bypass their pending membership status and log in.

Does EE2 have improved tools for managing these annoying registrations? I’ve put off migrating because I am trying to figure out what I want to do about the lack of a Photo Gallery, but improved membership management tools would be a big incentive to update.

I’ve seen some items on Devot-ee.com that help address the issue. As far as a Photo Gallery goes, how many images are we talking about?

Just bought the expanded member utilities for EE 1.x, they are great.

I have about 300 photos in the gallery so far, want to be able to handle 1,000 or so.

Unfortunately I don’t have any information regarding importing or reusing existing galleries. I’d tend to use the query module to pull in the content, but that won’t help with comments, categories, etc.

How about we close this topic for now, and if needed we can have you post again in the CodeShare Corner if you need any HowTo questions answered.
