I have a client that wants their site built in Wordpress. I’m pretty sure they only want this as that’s what their current site is done in. I’m keen to get them onto using EE. I haven’t actually done a lot of Wordpress development work so feel my argument is a bit one sided at the moment. I know the benefits for me but what are the key benefits of EE for the client over a Wordpress build?

    Hi Deeper,

Take a look at this blog post by Ryan Irelan. It gives you some good info that you can use to explain to your client why EE is a better solution for their business.

    Hope it helps. 😊

This is also good, and from a Wordpress user to boot:

*ahem*, not a Wordpress user 😛

But this post (or rather, my PDF) stirred up some interesting meta in the WP community, because it was produced for exactly this reason. There is a time and place for Wordpress.

One caveat I would offer though is that if your client already has substantial data in WP, you will need to think about how to convert that over. There’s tools out there to help with that…

Andrew Weaver’s most excellent DataGrab add-on can help with that: http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/datagrab/

    Sorry, assumed you were 😊
+1 for datagrab by the way, an excellent add-on.
