Error when using relative paths for file uploads in the Wiki module

    Hi there,

I’m currently using relative paths in my File Upload preferences and this works fine during normal EE usage - I do this in order to make it easier when using version control with my sites, i.e.

Server Path to Upload Directory: ../uploads/
    URL of Upload Directory: http://www.mywebsite.com/uploads/

I’ve just setup the Wiki module, and noticed that I was getting the following error when trying to upload a file: “The path specified in your image upload preferences is not correct.”

I entered the full server path and URL and it then worked fine.

Is this a bug/inconsistency with the way the Wiki treats the file upload paths compared to EE, or have I missed another setting somewhere that would avoid the need for the absolute paths/url? I’m using EE 1.6.9 Build 20100805.

    Thanks,

    Stephen

    Stephen,

It is recommended that you use a full server path, although in many cases you can use a simple relative path. One case or inconsistency with this is the Wiki as you are experiencing.

    Hi John,

Would you say this inconsistency is enough to be classed as a minor bug for the Bug Tracker, or would you say it was a Feature Request?

Given that EllisLab use Mercurial too, I’d hoped they’d be sympathetic to my cause! 😊 I’ve not used the Wiki in EE2 so I’m not sure if this is also the case there, but if this is to be a feature request, I’d probably just say, close this ticket and I’ll make do, as I know new features aren’t being added for EE1 any more.

    Thanks,

    Stephen

I’d probably call it undocumented feature, so personally I think a Feature Request would be more appropriate. The usual form would be a full path, as John Henry said.

I love these undocumented features - I’ve been making a living out of Stand Alone Edit Forms for the past few years! 😊

    Thanks guys,

    Stephen
