    Hi,
for some images the CP file manager gnerates thumbs and for some not.
I mean the thumbs, that are saved in _thumbs and are generated by EE for preview purposes only.
Seems, that there is a file size issue. If I make the original images smaller EE is able to produce a thumb.

Smaller doesn´t mean lighter in terms of file size (one file is nearly 6MB in size) and gets perfectly thumbed. Another file is about 1 MB and doesn´t go through.
Seems, that the pixel size x wide, y high is the limiting factor.

So, is this sometething that EE has to adress (build in max size limit) or do I have to talk with my hoster?
I´m on a otherwise comfortable shared hosting account.
I don´t know how EE produces the thumbs, maybe the thumbing needs too much memory. Can somebody sehd some light on the issue how EE does the thumbnails?

    Thanks
    awa

Hi, awa, excellent question! Unfortunately I don’t know the answer to that one, so I’ll ping the dev team on your behalf. But memory limitations do play a role here as well. Thanks in advance for your patience.

    Hi awa, a few questions:

    1. Under Admin > System Administration > Image Resizing Preferences, what is set for Image Resizing Protocol?
    2. How much memory is allocated to PHP?
    3. What kind of pixel widths and heights are we talking about here? :-D
