Hi, I am getting ready to purchase the newest license and upgrade my core site to the paid license. I am NOT very experienced in EE, this is the only EE site I have ever done. And, I am pretty unsure how to do this properly to avoid any disasters or downtime.

I made a backup folder and I am copying the whole current Core site into it, then I am going to follow the instructions for the install of the new licensed version. Is this correct? If something goes flamingly wrong, is it true that I can delete all the new install and copy the old install back to the root and it will work as if nothing ever happened?

Is there a better approach? I am sure these are sort of goofy questions, I am just not usually in the role of installing licenses etc. and I am REALLY NERVOUS I am going to screw things up.

If anyone could tell me the proper SAFE way to approach this I would be immensely grateful.

    Peace ~ Donna

You’ll need to download (2) things.

    1) All the site files.
    2) Database data (in the form of a MySQL dump).

Downloading the site files is simply done through FTP (which it appears you’ve already completed); however, performing a MySQL dump is a tad trickier for the inexperienced as it requires logging into your server administration and accessing phpMyAdmin.

If you manage to find PHPMyAdmin, I attached a screenshot to help.
