I am having issues with email notifications being delayed. I also tried the communicate tab and I seem to be getting the same issue. The delay can be up to 5 hours.
I have Debugging turned on and it says the messages are being sent. I am using EE 1.6.9.
Here are my email settings:
Return email address for auto-generated emails: I have this filled in
Webmaster or site name for auto-generated emails: I have this filled in
Email Protocol: PHP Mail
I am hoping to get this resolved ASAP. thanks!

I don’t think this is an EE issue, to be honest. EE hands off email for delivery to the mail server, which accepts it for delivery. From that point on EE is no longer involved. Perhaps your mail server queues the mail and only delivers it after some delay? You might want to talk to your hoster / postmaster about it. Perhaps there are some log files, too.
