    I’m getting a blank page when I try to access the site home page. When I try to access the control panel, I’m getting the following error:

    Warning: Unexpected character in input: ’ in /var/www/.../core/core.system.php on line 309

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_DOUBLE_ARROW in /var/www/.../core/core.system.php on line 309

    I have the following extensions/modules installed:

    Freeform
    Matrix
    Playa
    WYGWAM

    I’m running 1.6.8 on this site.

    Thanks for any help and suggestions for troubleshooting.

    Hard to say what the problem is without some troubleshooting…

    1) Try re-uploading a fresh copy of the “/system/core” folder to ensure it’s not a problem with the core.system.php file.

    2) You can try disabling all third party extensions. Go to your /system/config.php file and add this line (if it isn’t already there):

    $conf['allow_extensions'] = "n";

    Then try accessing your admin panel again.

    3) I don’t think this will solve your problem, but you could try updating to 1.6.9—> http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/152508/

    4) Also, if you find disabling the extensions doesn’t work, sometimes the site will display again (for debugging purposes) if you make it “OFFLINE”. Just add this line to the /system/config.php file:

    $conf['is_system_on'] = "n";

    Note that you technically can’t view the site until you log into the Admin Control Panel after turning the site off…

    It appears that a file or files in the core directory were somehow corrupted. After replacing with a clean upload things are working again.

    I appreciate the suggestions! Thanks for the reply, Jarret.
