Why close that thread about Member Spam?

This question may be related to a resolved thread.

John I’m not sure why you post and then close the thread, disallowing me a reply? Odd forum practice ...

Anyway - FYI for anyone else reading this, it was clear from my post that I am using EE2.1.

    1. Member Utilities appears to do what EE should do.

    2. It costs $14.95   ????? you want me to pay for this control?

    3. It is only for EE V1 as far as I can see.

    Robert.S,

Sorry Robert but it was posted in ExpressionEngine 1 Technical Support forum and you mentioned in your initial post that

In troubleshooting our problem we were told that we needed to be using Build 1.6.9 which we now are.

It was not immediately clear that you were using EE2.1

There were a number of suggestions provided in the thread for you and finally it was suggested to make a feature request which you have done so.

The suggestion of the add-on was just that, a suggestion. I am not saying you have to purchase the add-on. Our advice was to create a feature request.

I apologize that you feel I closed this thread prematurely. Do you wish me to get it reopened for you?

Because the original thread, started by he Human Solution back in July has been resolved, I’d say.

Anyway - FYI for anyone else reading this, it was clear from my post that I am using EE2.1.

That fact might have been overlooked, specifically since you were posting in the EE 1 Tech Support group. My apologies.

Thank your for your feedback. Please feel free to make a Feature Request.

No worries, in my opinion, forums are useful resources that contain information from searches (which is how I found this thread & didn’t bother to check what category it was in ... my bad).

Hence if others are searching and looking for solutions (and this is not “resolved”, since there are differences of opinion about it being a requirement or a feature or simply an addon) then it helps us make decisions about what to post in the future perhaps?

Anyway, no need to reopen it - don’t get me wrong, I love my EE and have done ever since day one. I find it incredibly frustrating that such a powerful piece of software, so well thought through (how long did EE2 take???? 😉 ) is still lacking some basic control over what many of us (including you guys I’m sure) have to fight with on daily basis.

Thanks to both of you for responding quickly - that is one awesome thing about the EE forums ...

Next time catch me when I’m less cranky ... 😊 Registration spam will do that to you you know!

    Hi Robert.S,

We appreciate the feedback. Please do make suggestions in the Feature Request forum; we read everything there. Closing this out for now but don’t hesitate to open a new thread of course.
