I know I’ve seen this posted elsewhere. But I’m having a problem finding how to remove the beginning tag in the weblog fields. It’s causing my site to not validate. I’m sure there’s a simple fix.

Do you mean making it so that any text you enter into one of your custom fields is not automatically wrapped in p tags? If so when you create your custom field you’ll see an option Default Text Formatting for the field and you can set it to None. See http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide//getting_started/create_custom_fields.html right down at the bottom for what the screen looks like.
