Cannot View Blog Videos in Chrome

Hi… It just so happened I decided to switch my primary browser to Google Chrome this week on my Win XP PC and also watch the series of awesome videos on MM.  However, I couldn’t watch them.

When I clicked on the link in the post, the status bar appears but the area above where the video should be is blank.  I was able to watch them on Firefox with no problem.

Let me know if you need anything else from me…

Mike - if you hit the play button on that bar - does it start to play?

Unfortunately no - nothing can be clicked on the bar, including the volume.

I’m attaching a screenshot of what it looks like.

Hi, Mike - I see what you see.  I’ve alerted our team to this so that we can investigate.  Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

    Hi Lisa:

    You’re welcome - glad I could help.

These videos are so good, I’d resort to watching them in IE6! 😊 I am hoping to kick-off my first MM site in the next few weeks and these have been a tremendous resource.

Just for your information, the videos don’t work for me. This seems like the same problem I had on the User Guide videos (see here). Whatever you did there to fix it worked for me, and might work on these videos too.

HI y’all, I’m going to see what I can do. We may need to re-encode them. I’ll post an announcement when we’ve confirmed they’re working. Thanks again for the notification!

Hey guys, we’ve done some troubleshooting. Can you please try again so we can verify? It’s working for us here.

    It works - thanks!

And as I and others are techies… what did you do?!  Also, what tool was used to generate the videos, as I was pleased with the production and effects.

Great, Mike! Glad to hear it.

We are working out some issues on the server end of everything here so there wasn’t anything with the browser or the encoding that we can find. We’ll be getting the server configured better for video viewing.

The tools are a) Allard’s fantastic Canadian accent b) ScreenFlow and c) “video for everyone” for html5 with flash fall back. Glad it’s going to work for you!

You’re welcome… and thanks for the tech details.  Though I probably won’t be able to have option A in any projects I do… 😊

Hmm, I can see the video and play it now, but it’s still not completely fixed for me. Every dozen seconds or so, it freezes but I still hear audio.

I’d just like to add that this happens to me a LOT on the ExpressionEngine preview video. And when the video doesn’t freeze, it speeds up and the sound and video don’t match.
