the disallowed_key_characters is back for our site http://www.mercatornet.com.
At least in Mozilla 3.6.8 in Windows 7.
This is really bad, as the site is effectively blocked.

We faced earlier same problem and we received suggestion from u to upgrade the site to EE 1.6.9. Upgrading it to EE 1.6.9 worked for a while, I think. We are facing the issues again. Pls, suggest to get rid from this forever.

Looking forward ur reply very soon.

Are you on the very latest version and build? Do you’ve got a link? Any extensions?

Yes, but where are you getting this? Is it consistent, reproducible? Does it crop up only from time to time? Where?

I don’t know what to do about this. It only happens every once in a while, not regularly. But it completely shuts down the site for the user. Few users reported that its appearing in Mozilla 3.6.8 in WinXP and Win7 during comments posting for any article.

    Hi MINDSCREEN,

Have you manually set a cookie domain for this site? Are you able to solve it by clearing your cookies?

    Cheers

    Greg

No, we haven’t set any cookies. Yes, after clearing all the cookies, if we tried to visit, it opens. But, its not a permanent solution.

Have you tried setting a cookie domain?

    MINDSCREEN,

I am not seeing this in Firefox 3.6.8. I also don’t see a login form anywhere, so I assume this happens with normal guests?

Please try the following when this occurs:

    1. Temporarily rename your .htaccess file and setting index.php back as your site’s index page in General Configuration.
    2. Temporarily disable extensions using the large green button in the upper right of the Extension Manager.

See if those alleviate the problem when it occurs.

    Hi

Can u help me to inform what is the advantage to set a cookie domain and how can I do that? Is there any chance to fix this issue by setting that?

A cookie domain will make sure that all cookies set contain the specified domain. Yes, it is part of the troubleshooting procerss and may well fix the issue. Just give it a try.
