not linking correctly...

    goes to “index.php/affiliate_link/”

    instead if the web address I added into the custom field.

    I looked at:

    Any idea?http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/modules/channel/variables.html#var_page_url but can’t seem to find the right one.

    any ideas?

    Lance, you’re telling EE to go to the affiliate_link template. Where were you expecting it to go instead?

    actually the custom field is a URL: “http://www.site.com”

    Just use the affiliate link value as the URL…

    <a href="http://{affiliate_link}" target="_blank" rel="noopener">{product}</a>

    yeh I tried that before… no good.

    Go to Weblog Administration › Weblog Management and choose Edit preferences for the weblog.

    Under Weblog posting prefs change “Automatically turn URLs and email addresses into links?” to “No” and update.

    That will output the URL in the correct format.

    thanks guys, all good. I remember it was a preferences issue, I just needed to go deeper I did try global prefs but needed weblog prefs.
