Can WordPress play nice with EE?

Forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere, but I could not find the exact answer I needed in the forums.

I’m working on a site for a client who is using EE 1.8, but wants to install a WordPress blog at, for example’s sake, http://www.example.com/blog. Rest assured, I’ve tried to convince them to just use EE for everything, but that’s just the way it goes.

Since the entire site is built with EE, and there is no template group called blog, the above URL will produce a 404 error. Is there anyway I can force EE to ignore that particular URL and successfully reserve that URL for the WordPress install?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

EE should be running at http://www.example.com/index.php/foobar, right? That way WP could still use http://www.example.com/blog. If you are removing index.php from your URL make sure that “blog” is not, in fact, routed through EE’s index.php.

Yes, forgive me for omitting the fact that I am using Leevi Graham’s LG .htaccess Generator extension to remove the index.php from URLs.

    When you say the following:

If you are removing index.php from your URL make sure that “blog” is not, in fact, routed through EE’s index.php.

How exactly would I do that?

And thank you for the prompt response.

Depending on the method employed you would probably have to create an exception. Since we cannot officially support server side rewriting I’ll move this to the CodeShare Corner.
