This is a follow on the thread 163451.

Having cleared the cache folder and reset permissions with a few moments of activity the issue has returned.

Some elements have changed however; what was,

Notice: Undefined variable: ret in /home/xxxx/public_html/admin/core/core.functions.php on line 1099
Notice: Undefined variable: ret in /home/xxxx/public_html/admin/core/core.functions.php on line 1099
Notice: Undefined variable: ret in /home/xxxx/public_html/admin/core/core.functions.php on line 1099
Notice: Undefined variable: ret in /home/xxxx/public_html/admin/core/core.functions.php on line 1099

    is now only

Notice: Undefined variable: ret in /home/xxxx/public_html/admin/core/core.functions.php on line 1099

and the PHP Error has been eliminated.

I was able to eliminate the error by disabling Extensions and that too seems to have cut the number of Undefined variable: “ret” errors from 4 to 1. I tried uninstalling all third-party modules as well but sadly that didn’t change anything.

I did notice one thing though. The errors occur whenever that database is accessed, so updating templates, entries and trying to clear the database caches all through up the errors, but other cache operations do not.

    2 questions then;

    1) can anyone suggest other steps I might take to restore the install to “stock” and eliminate anything I might have added/changed?; and,
    2) this was an MSM site. The site I’m using was not site #1. Is there any way I can uninstall site #1 or otherwise remove MSM and keep only site #2?

    Thanks, Jules

    Jules,

Is that the full error message? Are any other plugins installed? At this point you may want to upgrade to 1.6.9 to ensure you have a clean set of files.

Thanks for that; can you confirm what the latest build number is for v169, please?

I ask because I can see an April build; Ingmar tells me there’s an August build (incorporating a fix for a Pages Module burp in earlier 169 releases?) ...

Please upgrade to the latest build available to you. Yes, the April build sounds correct. The August one should only concern EE 2.

Thank you for your input; as i am now dealing with Ellislabs directly on this matter you may close this ticket.
