I’m trying to setup a new member group for my client that just allows them to log in and add/edit a couple channels and add/delete new “Members”.  I believe I have the settings set correctly for that member group, which I am calling “Admins”... when I log in as an Admin, everything shows up as expected, but when I try to create a new “Member”, I fill in the info and select “Register a New Member”, but nothing happens.  It looks like the page is trying to load something new for a second, but then stops, and the page stays on the form page without anything else happening.

Can someone help me figure out the exact settings to setup this group?  Or help me realize what I’m doing wrong.

    Thanks!

What version and build of EE are you using? Any extensions? As a Superadmin it works without a problem, I suppose?

    Joe,

    I can’t replicate this.
I tried with a member group created from a Super Admin group and a regular member group with permissions applied afterwards.

What were the exact permissions you gave tot he group so we can compare?

Was this a fresh install or an upgrade?

Do you use Firebug at all? Does your browser show any JavaScript errors?

Control Panel Access: First 5 Yes, as well as Yes for Members Section.  The rest are No.
Control Panel Admin: All No except for Can administrate members accounts & Can delete members
    Control Panel Email: All Yes
Channel Posting Privileges: All Yes except for last 3
    Channel Assignment: All Yes

    Joe,

    Our permissions are the same.

What build are you using? You can find this in the footer of your control panel.

What kind of hosting environment are you using?

    I’m using Build:  20100720
Hosting at Hostek.com with a Linux server.

I’d be willing to give you temporary Admin access if you want to take a look at it directly.

Joe, I created a new group with the settings you described and I’m able to reproduce the issue. Please post those details steps to a new bug report. Thanks!

Is there a way to just do a complete re-install while at the same time keeping the database intact?  I’m kind of in a crunch here and this is the last thing to get going…

I have even just created a new group based off of a Super Admin without adjusting any in the group, and that new group still isn’t able to create a new member.  When I get to the “Register a New Member” page the “Member Group Assignment” drop-down is empty and there is nothing to select.

    Joe,

Yes, if you follow the build update instructions you can ensure that you have a fresh set of files uploaded. It’s unclear though whether that would impact this bug.

I have found the answer to this (after receiving an answer back on my bug report).

I just needed to unlock the “Member” member group.  Only Super Admins can create members of locked member groups.

    Thanks everyone for the help!
