    I am trying to add advertisement slots to my forum, but any EE code I use in theme_global.php gets passed straight to the browser without running.  How do I run EE code within the forum?  Specifically I am trying to use embeds like: {embed="advertising/leaderboard"}

    // Edit:  I see here that embeds are disabled by default on Forum Module.  But even if I place the exp:weblog:entries code directly into the template, it still does not run.  My end goal is to include the ads and footer from my main site.  What is the best way to go about this?  Running the forum as a regular template seems to be discouraged.

    The only way you’re going to get that to work the way you want is to turn the forum through a regular template.

    There is no way to access my advertising weblog entries from within the Forum Module?

    I can manually add the header and footer back in.  They don’t have to be embedded.  It’s the ads that I am worried about.

    As Sue suggested, are you running your forum through a regular template?

    It is run through a template and works fine here: http://statebystategardening.com /state.php/forum/ .  The documentation uses phrases like “If you absolutely must…” and “...more processing overhead, so it’s not recommended…”.

    So, I was just making sure that was my only option.  Thanks for the help.

    Yes, I’m afraid that would be the only viable option for running EE and PHP code.
