    I am having an issue where I want to display template debugging so that I can troubleshoot an issue. I turned on Display Template Debugging in the CP. I am logged in as a Super Admin. But when I go to my site no debugging info is displayed. I tried also enabling Display SQL queries. They show up in the CP, but not on the site.

    You probably aren’t logged in to the front side, are you? When you go to http://example.com/index.php/member/login and then visit the site, does anything change?

    Yes, I am. Like I said, I am logged in as a Super Admin.

    OK, let’s try this. Add

    {logged_in_group_id}

    to one of your public templates. What do you get?

    I have the same problem. I’m logged in as a super admin and the {logged_in_group_id}  is shows id ‘3’, which is guest. Debugging would be useful as I actually have lots of problems with my subdomains (no comments), that will require a different post. (looks like I’ll need to roll back to 1.69)

    As I’ve said, make sure you are logged in to the front side as well. Try to use cookies only for authentication purposes.

    I just ran into this same problem (template debugging not working) and sure enough, like you said Ingmar, I had to log in via the members login form to get template debugging to show up.

    I don’t understand this though.

    I’ve never had to do that before to see the debugging (when developing other sites). I’m always just recognised because I’m logged in as superadmin via control panel at the same time. I’ve not set the cookies up any differently from other sites, and I’m using MSM, so I’m on the same server as another site where it worked as I usually expect it to.

    Can you explain how it can be different this time?

    Are you using session_ids as well? This will only work with cookies only, and you should probably set a cookie domain and/or enable multi-domain login if you are using multiple sites.

    Apologies Ingmar, I’m being foolish. Your response pointed me in the right direction. I’m using MSM and I am currently still logging into the control panel on the 1st domain - I haven’t masked the URL (yet) - but of course viewing the 2nd site on a different domain. Of course it wouldn’t recognise me!

    I will look at the cookie domain settings too. Only just discovered those the other day and have some learning about cookies to do before I understand how to use them!
