    Hello all,

I am developing a financial site that will cover at least 120 companies. We need company profile pages like seen here:

    financial data

The company profiles and key financial data (turnover, profit, profit per share et cetera)are provided by the editorial team and need to be easily updated. Stock quotes and charts will be added in the future (probably by xml feeds).

Could we do this in expression engine ? as we hope to avoid custom plugins in wordpress.

I am aware of the paidcontent site, but I think all the financial data is provided by financialcontent.com.

    Thanks in advance.

Not a financial person here—the main question is are those numbers just content that is all stored and retrieved, or are there values that EE would need to calculate?

no calculations needed. Some data will be pulled from xml feeds and some out of the expression engine database.

Then no worries - create a Company Profile channel and field group.  Add fields to the field group as needed to store the content as shown. Each company gets one entry in the channel.

    Pretty straightforward stuff…;)

Thanks for your quick reply. Is it really that simple to make. In Drupal it will cost me 10.000 euro according to a drupal developer.

What about key financials like seen here:

    http://www.reuters.com/finance/stocks/financialHighlights?symbol=AAPL.O

These data must be pulled from the database and published in tables.

I agree with Mike that the profiles you are describing are basic native functionality in channels. I would add that you’ll need to work out some key relationships and integrate some add ons to enable the related tables of information.  This is common for EE.  You will need to figure out how you are going to integrate the data feeds.  The time burner (and thus costly) part of this is the transform and load functions you’ll need to build.
