I am trying to convert a smarty php website into a EE website. The original format has thumbnail images grouped on the left side of the web page (3x3) and the current selected thumbnail image shown at full size on the right hand side of the web page. Whenever a thumbnail is clicked, the full size image of the selected thumbnail is shown on the right side of the web page.

is it possible to sync and use the “Multi-Entry” and the “Single-Entry” both at the same time on the same page? My experience in EE is not great and php for that matter… but some help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi logman,

    Welcome to the forums!

The short answer to your question is yes, it’s possible. There are few ways of approaching this. If you are using the Weblog module (with custom fields for the thumbnail and the large image) instead of the Photo Gallery module then you could have one weblog:entries tag with the dynamic=“off” parameter set in the sidebar. This would display your thumbnails. Another weblog:entries tag in the main content area could be set to display the full sized image based upon the URL segment. Another advantage of using the Weblog module might be an easier upgrade process to EE version 2.x - the Photo Gallery module has been removed in the new version.

Have you had a look at the Importance of Semantics blog post series that might help get you started understanding how EE works?

Also, please do post in the CodeShare Corner forum where you can ask the community for advice and help in sorting out what you need to do.

    Cheers

    Greg
