Am I the only one who is absolutely horrible in this regard? I think I just realized today that I’m worse than any client I’ve ever worked for.

😊 I think that is the beauty of personal projects…you get to the ‘fun part’ without pressure of annoying organizational and bureaucratic process. Granted, in return they take yrs to finish much like those clients who forget why they wanted a site in a first place.

This is one reason I outsourced the current design of Boyink.com. And the result is way better for doing so.

Like boyink I outsource my own design, but am always tinkering and adding new things to my personal site.

I know what you mean bro. It took me about 8 months to put together a simple portfolio site for myself. Writing content I find to be difficult when it’s all about yourself and your work.

I think there are two major reasons that we give ourselves more scope creep they any client ever could. First, we are learning new and exciting ways to make what we do better every day. So the great idea we had yesterday is not as good as the way we know how to do it today. Second, and this may only be me, I never fell like I can ever get my own stuff designed well enough. I feel like there is always something I could do more.
Remember, we don’t have to pay ourselves or hold ourselves liable for going outside of the scope. So maybe that’s three reasons. 😊
