Event booking form and paypal

    Hi guys,

First of all the site in question which contains the booking form can be found here http://www.hlg.stevenmarshdigitaldesign.com/index.php/booking/.

Please excuse my ignorance as I am pretty new to EE and have never used it yet as a simple e-commerce solution with Paypal.

What I am trying to do is create a simple booking form for the Ghostwalks we run which allows people to pay online via Paypal. I have looked a little at the Simple Commerce Module but it doesn’t seem to be able to do what I want it to do (I may have missed something so if please point it out if I have).

A customer should be able to select a tour/event from the top of the form. This select menu is populated using a mix of hard-coded information for the tours as they will not change and the events are generated from a weblog named ‘events’. Once a tour/event is selected I am using AJAX to grab the tour dates from another weblog called ‘tour_dates’ which we can add and delete dates from as they become available/full. Obviously the events only have one set date so this does not apply to them. Along with the dates the javascript also pulls a few more select menus through for numbers of people/children/etc depending on what is being offered for that tour/event and generates a total price as the user selects the numbers (I have only ben working on the top tour yet so non of the others will work at all). Now the user fills in a bit more information and hits ‘continue’ (the process upto now I have had working but have gone back to try and work into it the following, however unsuccessfully!)

Now this is where I am getting really stuck.

I would like to use a freeform form as this gives me the option to add to a mailing list and also generates any error messages for me such as if the terms & conditions have not been selected. But then I need the tour/event name, the date, the price, and the numbers of people involved to be passed to paypal for payment to take place, then direct the user back to our site and provide them with a reciept they can print off and bring with them on the night (or the reciept can be provided by paypal, either will do as long as it contains the necessary information).

Maybe I’m talking aload of rubbish and this is not possible to do in this sort of way but at least then I know I am not going to get it to work.

    Any suggestions much appreciated,
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve.

I have been wanting to something like this as well and have asked here on the forums without much response.

I sometimes wonder what sort of sites the majority of EE users develop, as the support/advice/addons for e-commerce and booking solutions is very limited.
