Flat template files don't correspond to templategroups/templates in EE

I am saving my templates as flat files in the EE control panel; at some point, I changed the name of one or more template groups. Now I find that the flat files do not sync with the version in the EE CP. Do I trash the flat files and start over? Will I lose info if I do this? How do I get them to sync up?

Did you rename the template group from the EE control panel, or on the file system itself?

I renamed the file group in the ee control panel. After that I had two folders, one for the old group name and one for the new.

    Rory,

That sounds correct and that is how it also worked in 1.6.x. Basically you just told EE to start saving a new template group as flat files. There is no logic there to tell it to delete previous folder and start a fresh one. So you now have a working flat file folder and a legacy one.

    Does that explanation make sense?
