Our site is offline while we post content and develop new features before our launch.  Two Super Admin’s are unable to view our site in offline mode. We both have a quick link in our CP set up that points to:  http://globalwater.jhu.edu/?URL=http://globalwater.jhu.edu/

Here are some of our settings that may be helpful:

System Preferences > Control Panel Session Type > cookies and session ID
System Preferences > User Session Type > Cookies only

cookies are enabled on our browsers.  At work, we are behind the university firewall, but I am not technically savvy enough to have any details on that. The problem persists from my home computer.

I am completely new to EE (we contracted some very good developers to build the site).  Sorry if this is very obvious, but the User Guide and other resources do not contain any instructions on how to view the site while in offline mode, it just states that Super Admins should be able to do so.

    Thanks,

    Luke

FYI - we are turning the system on and off while working, as having the on is the only way to view pages.

    Hi Luke,

    Welcome to the forums!

Firstly, are you logging into the CP at http://www.globalwater.jhu.edu/ or http://globalwater.jhu.edu? Secondly, please temporarily change the User Session Type to Session ID. Does that allow you view the site whilst it is offline?

    Cheers

    Greg

Thanks, Greg, I am happy to have this forum as a resource!

The site is actually hosted on http://www.globalwater.ehclients.com, but visitors to the site only see the University URL.  I log into http://globalwater.ehclients.com/gwsys/index.php

Changing User Session Type to Session ID didn’t help.

    Thanks,

    Luke

Luke, you either have to standardize on the www or non-www name of your site, or set your

CP Home ›  Admin ›  System Preferences ›  Cookie Settings Cookie Domain.

Thanks, Sue, your suggestion worked!  The only change I need was:

CP Home › Admin › System Preferences › Cookie Settings Cookie Domain > globalwater.jhu.edu

In case this helps anyone in the future with a similar problem, these were and are still some general configuration settings that relate to my URL:

CP Home › Admin › System Preferences › General Configuration > URL to the root directory of your site > http://globalwater.jhu.edu/
CP Home › Admin › System Preferences › General Configuration > URL to your Control Panel index page > http://globalwater.jhu.edu/gwsys/index.php
