This question may be related to a resolved thread.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 456 bytes) in /home/admin/sma.tinkerbox.com.sg/SMa_engine/expressionengine/controllers/cp/content_files.php on line 210

I am reading the post in the related thread, but I do not know what memory settings they are talking about. Also, the error is caused by different files. Where do I set this memory setting?

    Thank you.

This is a a setting for your PHP environment. You have 32 MB and are running out of memory. Ask your host about this, please.

I just encountered this error myself and was able to solve it. I have access to the php.ini file for the VPS server. I changed upload_max_filesize in php.ini via the Virtuozzo File Manager, saved the file, restarted the server. Then this I got the memory error. Apparently, whenever I save the edits I made to php.ini (via Virtuozzo), the first 90% of the files contents does not save, which includes the memory settings. Once I edited the file offline and uploaded it, restarted server, the problem was solved.
