    Hi

I have been asked to create a site for a company that is already using an expression engine site.

They want the new site to have the exact same layout and features as their old one.

Ideally, I want to be able to take the custom made theme from the old site and use it with the new site, then edit/replace the images used.

I have access to the files on the server for the old site.

Is it possible to copy down the theme files, then use them when installing the new expression engine site?

    Thanks

Welcome to the forums, dkweb -

ExpressionEngine gives you complete design freedom, so you can use your own design.  You would need to strip out the “content” and move that into entries, then replace the content in the template with EE tags to make it dynamic.

Train EE has some great tutorials on this process.

You wouldn’t use these during the installation process, but as part of the site build process in EE.
