Does anyone know if there is a module out there that can enable user-customized email alerts?

For example, a user may be interested in receiving an email alert whenever an entry is posted on our site that contains the word “carrot”. Or another user may want to be notified whenever an entry to a specific category is published. Or another user may want to be notified when an entry is published with the word “carrot”, but only if it is in a specific category.

I’ve searched but cannot find any existing module that can handle this. Anybody have any tips or experiences doing something like this?

I am not aware of such a module, unfortunately. Not saying it couldn’t be built, just that I am not aware of anybody having done so.

Thanks Ingmar. I’m actually quite surprised as this is a very common feature on many sites. The goal is to apply this to a classifieds section so people can get notified when an item of interest gets posted. If anyone is interested in building a module like this please let me know!
