Last week, I upgraded a site from v1.6.8 to v1.6.9 (Build 20100430), and ever since, I’m experiencing an odd issue. I can view the public site just fine, but as soon as I log into the CP, I consistently have trouble accessing the same pages on the public site (I get a “cannot decode raw data” error in Safari). I log out of the CP, and everything’s back to normal.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Jason,

Do you have GZip enabled for the site? Also, if you clear all your site cookies does the issue remain?

    Cheers

Yes, I do have GZip enabled. And the issue remains even after I clear out all of my cookies.

    Jason,

The intermittent blank pages could be the way some hosts are gzipping content. Can you try disabling gzip for Safari?

FWIW, I’m hosting with EngineHosting and I get the same issue in other browsers, not just Safari. For example, I get this error in Firefox when I’m using it to browse the site and the CP:

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.

So even if I disabled GZip for Safari, the issue would remain.

    Jason,

It might be worth bringing this to EngineHosting attention to see if they have any thoughts on it.
Does disabling gzip in your control panel output and debugging settings stop the errors

I’ve disabled GZip, and I can now see the pages. However, I’m also getting a different error:

Notice: Undefined index: uris in /foo/bar/modules/weblog/mod.weblog.php on line 1537

Warning: array_flip() [function.array-flip]: The argument should be an array in /foo/bar/modules/weblog/mod.weblog.php on line 1537

Warning: implode() [function.implode]: Bad arguments. in /foo/bar/modules/weblog/mod.weblog.php on line 1537

Again, this error only appears if I’m logged into the CP (and I’ve cleared the site’s cache). I don’t see it if I view the site when I’m not logged in.

The way site pages are stored changed in 1.6.9 to provide greater flexibility. Add-ons that may be affected include Structure, LG Better Meta, and the Nested Menu Plugin. Do you have any of those installed?

    See 1.6.9 version notes

I had LG Better Meta installed at one point, but not anymore. Could there be some “residual” data that’s causing some conflict?
