I’m building a site for a designer. He wants his portfolio pages set up like the attached image. I’m thinking I’m going to set up one weblog for his portfolio, and then create categories for each kind of work. Prev/Next buttons will scroll through each post in a given category. Pretty straight forward.

What I’m struggling with is the situations when he has more than one image per post and wants those images to show 1 at a time. When there is more than 1 image, number links would appear above the image.

I can’t figure out how to do this. Even if I create fields for more than 1 image, is there a way to make EE auto create numbers (the way it does with pagination)? Even if I had to let him type in the numbers, that would be fine but I can’t even figure out how to get EE to display one image at a time. The images can’t be in separate posts because then the Prev/Next links would scroll through them.

Anyone done something like this? Thanks.

    Hi Sean,

This is definitely a job for Matrix. It allows you to have 1 cutsom field that houses multiple rows which are numbered (it uses its own {count} variable).

Yep, I’d go with using something like Nivo Slider (http://nivo.dev7studios.com/) and then Matrix. Just to add to what Wouter said, you’d first of all need to install FieldFrame, and nGen File Field, and then finally Matrix to be able to create a matrix of file upload fields.

Thanks, guys. These look like good options. I’ll check them out.
