    Hi all! 😊

I am currently working my way through nicely organised EE site that will allow my client to upload video files to be played using the Longtail JW Flash player. The uploading is great, the player is working great but I am not sure how I would go about finding out the video length automatically via PHP.

The only other option is to make a custom field and ask the client to manually enter the video length for each upload. I would much prefer to have this done automatically. The video file types are FLV, H.264/MPEG-4. I would just like to see if anyone has had any luck doing this or would know a method of how this could work and if this is even possible.

Thanx in advance for any help/advice/direction offered! Much appreciated!

I’ve never tried this, but it looks like it does what you’re looking for:

Thanx for the response this looks like it could do the trick! Will check and see if Video types are supported but I assume the video length is included in a video files ID3?

Yeah, I don’t know if it’s actually ID3 but it should have some kind of metadata that getID3 (which is what that file info plugin is built on) can retrieve.
