I’ve moved webhosts and moved EE as well as updated from 1.6.1 to 1.6.8. Before and after the update I was getting a blank page when accessing the site.

(I went ahead and updated even though it didn’t work after the move because I have all the files on the old server so it seemed like it wouldn’t hurt and might fix the issue.)

I updated the index.php file at version 1.6.whatever. The control panel works and all the paths seem right. What else could be wrong?

curiouser and curiouser. Now the blog is back (‘though not where I specified it should be in the control panel) but the control panel is gone. I get a file not found error when I try to access the directory, even though I can see it via ftp

Gosh - what a pain. Seems to be file permissions issues. I’m on hostmonster and apparently they don’t allow directories to be set to 777 and I must have set the cp to that by mistake.

They also tell me that files should not be set to 666 (i.e., the config files), and should instead be 644.

Seems to mostly work now. Mostly. 😊
