I am trying to add more fields to an existing form in Freeform and I can not get them to send when I hit the submit button. Is there more to it than adding the code in the template? I have looked through the Solspace docs on it, but they are really vague and not direct on how to use Freeform.
I would think that I could figure it out somehow if there were docs that gave an overview of how the whole thing works.

you need to go to the freeform module in the control panel and add the fields so that it knows to look for data coming from those fields when people post the form.

Sorry - that makes no sense to me at all. I added a new field and have no idea what to do with it. I can put that field_name tag into the template, but how is that going to call the information that I want? What fields do I need to add? How does it tie into FieldFrame to know what information I want submitted with the form?
I still find no examples anywhere of how to use Freeform nor do I find any good information or tutorials on it. How are you supposed to tie all the bits and pieces of information together? I have looked at the documentation for hours and nothing makes sense at all.
In the end, all I want to do is add four checkboxs and one small textarea to an existing form, but when I do that, it will not submit those areas. Only the existing areas.

Essentially you need to define the fields for FreeForm before you can use them in your code.

In the EE CP go to :

Modules ›  Freeform ›  Manage Fields

Use the big green button and Create a New Field for each field you are looking to add.

Define the fields type, length, name etc.

Once your new fields appear in the list that FreeForm shows you should be able to use them in your template (so long as the names match).

Thanks for the reply. I understand how to create a new field and have done so. I think my problem right now is not understanding exactly how to use the field name properly.
I think I am getting the idea of it now though.

I’m sure you’ve already done so, but check out Solspace’s User Documentaton on FreeForm. They have a few examples at the bottom of this page: http://www.solspace.com/docs/detail/freeform_form/

There are 3 examples and they all use custom fields, so hopefully you can take a cue from them.

Yes - thank you for the reply. I have it now. I still have no idea how to use it with fieldframe, but I have the basics of what I need done now.
    Thanks
