    I am not too sure about what exactly you are trying to achieve here. You have setup the forum module? Which version and build of EE are you using? Does that work? Has it ever worked? Do you’ve got a link?

    cd119, we have the email that you sent to Ingmar (he’s a guy). But having said that, let’s start with one question at a time.

    To recap, you have a domain that you’d like to show the forum on.

    How/where was the domain created? Is it on the same hosting account? Are you using cPanel?

    i’m using engine hosting, so no cpanel.. not sure what you refer to it as…

    the forum is currently active on one of the domain names i provided domainname.com/forum , you will see it when you refer back to the e-mail

    it might be easier for me to give you all my access information and let you look at everything

    OK, so you have setup ... the site. Let’s call it example.com since you obviously don’t want to name it publicly. The site works. The “forums” links leads to a different site (exampleforums.com), that also appears to work. I am still a little unclear what precisely you are trying to achieve here?

    First of all , i would like to know what software i’m running that needs to be updated and how much is the update and how long until my updates will expire.

    Secondly, I would like to somehow be able to redirect or make the forum module work as if it were my root index.php file or at least redirect the index.php to the forum so i can just link to domainname.com instead of domainname.com/forum

    An easy solution would be to use an EE redirect, in the homepage (index template of the default template group) on the domainname.com site.

    You could add this code:

    {redirect="forums"}

    * Assuming “forums” is the forum trigger word

    You could also run the forum through a template, and add the following code to the index template of domainname.com

    {exp:forum}

    Does this help?

    1)  So i just put {redirect="forums"} on my root index file, correct? and where do i identify my trigger word?

    2)  Secondly, when updating the forum - does this affect the database (members) or anything?

    3)  And how do i make the link on the forum where it has the “home” link to a different site?

    thanks for the support

    1) Yes, that should work. The forum trigger word is set in the forum preferences (Forum Management > Default Preferences > General Settings > Forum Triggering Word)

    2) Please do make a db backup. That said, no, the rest of the site should not be affected.

    3) You would have to modify the forum themes for that.

    Thanks ingmar -

    1) Another question, I am currently running EE 1.6.0, but just downloaded the latest forum module, so i assume i need to upgrade EE first, correct?

    2) Well i went to click on my download link in my account and got some weird error - and it doesn’t show a   license number for EE on my acct. Could you please check this out for me?

    1) Yes, definitely. EE and the Forum module are going hand in hand.
    2) It looks like your download has expired. Please contact Sales via email if you have any further questions.
