I bought a G5 iMac for my mother-in-law about 4 years ago. Now that AppleCare has expired, a white stripe recently appeared in the middle of the monitor and won’t go away. I’ve searched the web and it turns out that this generation of Macs have this problem.
Anyone familiar with this problem? Any solutions?

sounds like a hardware issue. generally it’s more expensive to get it fixed than to just recycle (aka ebay) the parts from the old one and buy a new imac.

Yeah, planning on buying her a new one ... and recycling parts on ebay ... that sounds interesting.
