Hi there,

I can’t upload avatars.  I go to Admin > Members and Groups > Membership Preferences > Avatar Prefernces

I see the paths are need to be updated as I moved servers.  I have chmoded the directory to 777.

The server path is /home2/pixel/public_html/images/avatars/

I moved servers recently, and the new directory is

/home/pixel/public_html/images/avatars/

When I try to change then save the preference, I get

The following path you submitted is not valid:
/home2/pixel/public_html/images/signature_attachments/

Which of course is not what I have in the server path in the first place.  It doesn’t matter what I type in either the URL or the server path, it keeps telling me the path is not valid, but it’s not accurately reflecting the path I’m putting in.  It just keeps defaulting to /home2/pixel/public_html/images/signature_attachments/

Interestingly, I have a directory images/signature_attachments and that is also 777 and it won’t even upload there.  Also, there is an existing image and photo in my profile from when I had done this successfully before.

That page checks a number of paths when you submit your new Avatar path.

What the error is telling you is that the Server path to Signature Image Upload Folder is incorrect. So update that path first under Signature Preferences

CP Home ›  Admin ›  Members and Groups ›  Membership Preferences

You will probably have to correct Member Photo path also.

Yep, John, ALL my paths, avatar, signature, member photo, attachments, had an old path.  It sent me on a wild goose chase changing each of them, and that resolved it.
