    Hi there,

I added a new channel to an EE 1.6.8 installation (latest build) today but noticed it would not show up in the Publish menu.  So I hacked the URL to make it go to the publish page by changing the channel ID, but it said “You are not authorized to post in this channel.”  I am logged in as an admin, so I assume I shouldn’t have permissions issues.

Has anyone seen this before?  Or is there a way to check permissions on a channel-by-channel, per-user basis?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Are you logged in as a Superadmin?

Yes, it is the user that EE first creates during installation, and it is in the Super Admins member group.

Are you using any third-party add-ons, extensions in particular? Or the MSM?

Yes I’m using some extensions, I was afraid that might be the issue.  I’ll need some time to create a local copy of the site so I can disable extensions (and not impact the live site) and test from there.  Thanks!

Quick question, is MSM Publish Plus in the mix somewhere? I remember this being an issue the last time.

Is that the multi-site manager?  No, we’re not using that anywhere. Thanks again!

No, it’s a separate, third-party extension. Nevermind, you’d know about it if you’d use it. That said, it’s not certain that extensions lie at the heart of this issue, but it’s not unlikely, and something that we need to rule out first. So, yes, disabling them all would be the first step.

Let us know when you’ve had the chance; we’ll be here.

I got it fixed. I debated not posting this because it’s pretty embarrassing, but I thought you’d like to know the issue was fixed.

Yes, we do have NSM Publish Plus. I guess that’s what happens with multiple developers working on a single project; we’re not always on the same page, and we forget about extensions we’ve installed.

Anyway, thank you for your help, Ingmar!

Glad you were able to figure out what the problem was. Don’t hesitate to post again as needed.
