    Is anyone using the new CKEditor extension and script?

    I am trying to customize the toolbars with the info on this page but am not having much luck.

    The only thing that seems to work period, is the provided example of:

    CKEDITOR.replace(name,
    {
        toolbar : 'Basic'
    });

    I am not sure if the syntax in the documentation can still be applied to the ee CKEditor config text area.

    Any help appreciated.

    You are aware of the Ckeditor and Wygwam extensions?

    I use the latter with surprising satisfaction: first online wysiwyg editor I’ve ever liked and worth the bucks ‘cuz it’s a very sweet implementation.

    Hi,

    With my first post, I am asking a question about the CKEditor extension and script that you are linking to and asking me if I am aware of. So, yes, I am aware of it, since I am asking a question about it.

    The question is regarding customizing the toolbars and if anyone has an example of a custom toolbar, as I can’t get it to work. I must have the syntax wrong.

    Sorry if my original post was not clear.

    Thanks

    Ditto here. WYGWAM is sweet, slick, flexible, and works. It should be a part of EE. Worth the money.

    My apologies for my poor reading! If I have a chance, I’ll take a look at it and see if I can get a different result.

    Digging around in CKeditor api doc at what seems to be the relevant point. Still experimenting myself - certainly didn’t work for me ‘out of the box’ either.

    Also here.

    I was able to make this work within the CKEditor Configuration area:

    CKEDITOR.replace(name,
    {
        toolbar :
            [
                ['Styles', 'Format'],
                ['Bold', 'Italic', '-', 'NumberedList', 'BulletedList', '-', 'Link', '-', 'About']
            ]
    });

    So, I can make a single, custom toolbar that suits me. But I then lose access to both the ‘Full’ and ‘Basic’ toolbars. I remain unable to make this work within the config.js or a custom config file.

    I’m guessing you had found that yourself in the CKeditor doc?

    I give up. Back to Wygwam!

    If you’re using Wygwam, the GUI in the extension settings works great for custom toolbars. (You just click the ‘+’ to add a custom one, name it, and then specify that toolbar in the Wygwam instance in your custom field settings.)

    I would also check out the Wygwam support page on GetSatistfaction for tips.

    While trying to find a way to replace the default styles provided by CKeditor I found this nice, soft intro to custom config:
