    Hi,

We currently have a single sign on system for our users which will drop cookies once they are logged in. Is it possible to change the forums so they accept this cookie as authentication and then allow them to contribute?

    Thanks

You’d like to use something else than expressionengine for the weblog section of your site? Which system are you currently using?

The site is part of skys online portfolio http://angela.sky.com (built using EE) we would like to add the EE forum and use Sky’s Single Sign On for authentication.

    Thanks

If the site is already built using EE when single signon will work automatically; when users log in on the main page they’re logged in to the forum as well.

    Hi,

Thanks I understand that, but it is our users that we need to be able to log on with their existing Sky accounts.

If you visit http://blogs.news.sky.com/discussions you can log in with our own Single Sign On Application and then contribute on that forum which is actaully hosted else where.

    Does that make sense?

    Thanks

    ok, yeah that makes sense.

Well, it’s cetainly possible but that would require custom development and also depends on how blogs.news.sky.com sets the cookies it sets (since that site and angela.sky.com are on different subdomains the cookies must be set a specific way to be available on angela.sky.com). Also you’d probably need to develop a custom extension that would handle it on the EE side.

Yep that’s what we need, I was wondering if anybody had implemented such a solution.

    Thanks
