I thought I’d ask this question early.  I tried changing the .php extension on some files that EE made for me.  I changed them to .css and .html where it was appropriate and it doesn’t seem to make any difference to EE.  This certainly makes other things easier for me in other ways, such as opening my editors.  Will this make any difference later on as I add more and more files?  Um obviously I’m saving all of my files as text files and editing them with an external editor.

It doesn’t make any difference because EE will just ignore these files.

When you make changes to them they will most likely not be reflected on the site, do they?

When you open a template in the template editor EE will just pull the data from the DB and when you save, it will create a new file with .php-extension.
