I’ve got an accordion-style drop down menu working right now in my design (in a sidebar on the homepage). I’m stumped on how to code it so my client can edit the options and linkable child categories themselves in EE.

    Example:

    OPTION A
      Child 1
      Child 2
    OPTION B
      Child 1
      Child 2
    OPTION C
      Child 1
      Child 2

I’d like to make it so that my clients can edit the options and their children (the children should also be linkable).  Is this possible to complete in EE?  Any ideas on how to tackle this problem?

    Thank you.

I don’t think they’d be able to edit this unless you gave them access to the templates of the site.

Yeah, that is what I was afraid of.  I was hoping that maybe someone had figured out a way to allow this sort of thing without providing clients access to template code.

    Thanks Steven

If you use categories you can allow the client to manage categories without template access, then build the menu based on category nav.

    - You could do it with categories, but personally I would do it using reverse_related_entries. Michael Boyink has a tutorial on how to do that here.

This has the advantage that you can still use categories for what they were originally intended for… categorising!

    good luck,

Thanks a bunch Lisa and James.  I hope to figure it out tonight.  Will provide update if I get it working.
